Since 1990, Lydia Mar Manila (LMM) has been a reliable partner for thousands of Filipino seafarers seeking stable and ethical careers at sea. From a humble team of three, we’ve grown into a 24-person crewing agency managing over 40 vessels and nearly 1,000 Filipino seafarers deployed worldwide.
On July 4, we marked our 35th anniversary with a simple yet heartfelt celebration at our Manila office. The event began with a Thanksgiving Mass and blessing for our office, staff, and seafarers. It continued with cocktails, karaoke, and a raffle with a twist: team members had to bust out their best TikTok dance moves to claim their prizes! (No pictures of the dance moves! We keep that locked up 😅 for everyone’s best interest)

That evening, we celebrated not just the years, but the people and stories that shaped us.L MM President Rodelita “Baby” Homecillo, one of the agency’s first employees, reflected on her early days juggling multiple roles. She recalled wearing many hats: crewing officer, document processor, visa and flag state specialist, and even personal assistant and typist to LMM’s first president, Captain Boldo. Although she left LMM in the past, Ma’am Baby eventually returned to become the company’s third president.
Chairman Alberto Gomez also revealed the meaning behind our anniversary shirts, which feature the numbers 35 and 57—35 years since LMM’s incorporation, and 57 years since Germany’s Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller’s Nachfolger (the parent company of Lydia Mar Athens) first hired Filipino crew. This long partnership reflects a lasting belief in the skill, integrity, and professionalism of Filipino seafarers.

For three and a half decades, our mission has remained clear: to develop competent, responsible, and well-supported maritime professionals—at sea and ashore—through efficient and ethical crewing.
