Introducing LMM’s in-house learning sessions!

The Lydia Mar Manila Career and Training Team has been crafting learning opportunities for LMM crew who want to deepen or refresh their knowledge or get some coaching.

Training for Deck

Last August 1, 2024, we held a Personal Safety Course with Lydia Mar Manila’s Career and Training Officer for Deck, Albert Regalado taking charge. The session included lectures, case studies, and open discussions with participants. We also made sure the session was an actual safe space to air concerns, comments, and corrections regarding safety. Many topics were covered, from healthy living onboard to safety precautions during specific scenarios, and good housekeeping.

Traing for Engine

Meanwhile, last August 15, 2024, our Career and Training Officer for Engine, Armando Domingo, taught an Upgrading Course for OIC-EW. This course was designed for newly promoted engine crew, or those who are interested in upgrading. It’s objective is to enhance the seafarer’s knowledge of the engine room system, ship’s electrical & automation, bunkering operation, engine log book computation, marine refrigeration, and watchkeeping procedures.

Stress free, choice-based training

A lot of training is already required from seafarers, therefore it’s our goal to ensure that our learning sessions remain stress-free. You may be invited to attend, but it’s largely optional. Learning should be your choice so that it’s enjoyable and beneficial. More topics are in the works, so if you’re interested, stay tuned for updates from your Crewing Officer.

Our in-house learning sessions are designed to cater to specific ranks and departments, and we also try our best to schedule them at a time when the target attendees are in Manila or just about to leave. That way, we don’t eat up anyone’s vacation time. We also try to keep our class sizes small, to ensure everyone has a chance to participate and make the most out of the training.

Are these sessions open to non-LMM crew? Not yet, but you can always apply to LMM to join our team. Visit our website to apply: https://lydiamar.ph/jobs/
